Biography
Renea Begolli (1998) is a visual artist and researcher based in Prishtina, Kosova. Her work explores themes of gender, ecology, memory, and the body. She holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s in Painting from the University of Prishtina and studied for a semester in 2021 in Sociology and Social Anthropology at Bournemouth University through Erasmus+ exchange. Currently, she works as the Program Coordinator for ODA Theater in Prishtina. Begolli is also engaged in research and writing with Anyla Kabashi in the forthcoming book “Body as an Archive: Performative Art Practices in Postwar Kosova,” supported by the National Gallery of Kosovo. She worked as a researcher and archivist at the Oral History Initiative (2020-2023), on publications such as “A Site of Political Struggle: Trepça Mine 1989,” “Breaking out”; as program coordinator and co-curator for Kosova at the Secondary Archive (2022); on projects like “Mothers of War (2023) alongside artist Luiza Thaqi, supported by Humanitarian Law Center Kosovo; and as a curatorial assistant for the Kyiv Biennial Vienna 2023. She participated in residencies like OPE.N Residency, Zagreb (2025); Residency Unlimited, New York (2024); Museums Quartier, Vienna (2023); Matanë, Art House, Shkodra (2021); and Infrared, Fondacioni Shtatëmbëdhjetë, Prishtina (2019). In 2023, she received the Artist of Tomorrow Award in Kosova.
Her solo exhibitions include “All this time, becoming,” curated by Anyla Kabashi at Hajde! Foundation in Prishtina (2025); “What Are You Waiting For?” pop-up show in Brooklyn, New York (2024), and "Pragu," curated by Yll Xhaferi at Qahili Gallery in Prishtina (2023). And in collective exhibitions like: “Operacija nova—metamorfoze kulturnih prostora,” Studio Gallery Klet, Zagreb (2025); "Say to Remember Me, So We Won’t Forget" (2023) with Luiza Thaqi, at the Documentation Center Kosovo. “The House of Confluence: Far and Near," at Residency Unlimited House, Governors Island, NYC (2024); "Artist of Tomorrow Award 2023" at Boxing Club Prishtina (2023); "Visual Arts Pavilion" at Varg e Vi (Gjilan, 2022); "Hybrids in Sight" at Termokiss Community Center (Prishtina, 2022); "Art during Pandemic: Based on a True Story" at the National Gallery of Kosovo (2021); "Breathe" at FemArt (2021); and "Infrared: Additions," by Foundation “Shtatëmbëdhjetë” at venues in Prishtina and Mitrovica (2020), among others.
